Hands-on projects focused on Linux systems administration, networking,
self-hosted services, troubleshooting, and IT infrastructure.
IT & Infrastructure Projects
Personal Website & Self-Hosted Web Server
Personal project
Designed, built, and self-hosted this very website on a Raspberry Pi using
Linux, Nginx, Git, DNS configuration, and secure deployment practices.
- Installed and configured a lightweight Linux server environment for local web hosting.
- Configured Nginx to serve a static website from a custom domain.
- Used Git, bash scripting, and a private repository workflow to manage website updates and version control.
- Applied basic server security practices including firewall configuration, SSH access control, and separation of source files from the public web root.
Linux NAS & Service Platform
Personal project
Built and administered a Raspberry Pi Linux NAS environment focused on
storage, networking, secure remote access, service reliability, and
practical systems troubleshooting.
- Configured Linux-based storage, networking, service management, and secure remote access.
- Implemented WireGuard VPN for encrypted off-site access, including key management, peer configuration, and routing.
- Deployed Python/FastAPI and PostgreSQL services with health checks, restart/recovery workflows, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Practiced system administration tasks including service monitoring, configuration management, and failure recovery.
Active Directory Homelab
Personal project
Built a virtualized Windows Server lab to practice core help desk,
desktop support, and junior system administration tasks in a domain
environment.
- Created a Windows Server domain with domain-joined Windows client virtual machines.
- Configured Active Directory users, groups, organizational units, permissions, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Tested common support scenarios involving user login, DNS resolution, DHCP leases, and GPO application.
- Documented repeatable troubleshooting procedures for domain and workstation issues.
Cisco Catalyst Network Lab
Personal project
Built and operated a physical enterprise-style networking lab around a Cisco Catalyst 3850,
combining Layer 3 switching, VLAN segmentation, network security, centralized infrastructure
services, and headless network monitoring.
- Designed three routed VLANs with SVIs, inter-VLAN routing, and extended ACL-based segmentation.
- Built centralized DHCP on a Raspberry Pi using
dnsmaq and Cisco ip helper-address relay.
- Implemented DHCP Snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, IP Source Guard, Portfast, and BPDU Guard.
- Configured centralized syslog and Chrony/NTP services on the Raspberry Pi for logs and timestamps.
- Implemented authenticated and encrypted SNMPv3 monitoring with management-host access restrictions.
- Used Cisco IOS XE and Linux CLI tools to test, diagnose, and document DHCP, routing, ACL, ARP-security, and monitoring behaviour.
Issue-Tracking System
Academic team project
Designed and deployed a Linux-hosted issue-tracking service to support
structured incident, task, and workflow management.
- Developed REST-based service endpoints for issue creation, assignment, filtering, and status tracking.
- Implemented automated testing and validation to improve service reliability and reduce regression risk.
- Tested the application in a Linux environment, validating request handling, persistence, and failure recovery scenarios.
- Documented service architecture and workflows to support maintainability and troubleshooting.
